Sanctuary at Homestead is a Greater Cincinnati 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2022 with a simple but far-reaching mission: to provide food, knowledge, and tabletop gaming to strengthen our community.

We believe that helping someone is about more than meeting a single need. Food can provide immediate relief and dignity. Practical knowledge can build confidence and long-term resilience. Shared interests—especially tabletop gaming—can create friendships, purpose, and a genuine sense of belonging.

Sanctuary at Homestead grew from nearly two decades of organizing tabletop gaming events and witnessing what can happen when people gather around a table. Games brought together people from different backgrounds, created lasting friendships, and formed a community willing to support one another.

In 2022, we established Sanctuary at Homestead to carry that spirit of service beyond the gaming table. What began as a community of gamers became an organized charitable effort dedicated to addressing food insecurity, sharing useful knowledge, and creating welcoming experiences where people can connect.

Our Holiday Hope Boxes provide families with complete holiday meals and seasonal items such as Easter baskets, school supplies, winter coats, stockings, and other thoughtfully selected support.

Our Sustainable Food Project helps individuals and families develop practical skills for growing, preparing, and enjoying nutritious food. Participants receive education, supplies, encouragement, and opportunities to share what they learn with others.

Through Cincinnati Arsenal Gaming, our tabletop gaming and event community, we create inclusive opportunities for people to play, paint, learn, volunteer, and build lasting relationships. Programs and events such as Hobby Haven, CAGBASH, and the Emperor’s Promise also help raise awareness and support for Sanctuary at Homestead’s charitable work.

We do not see food assistance, practical education, and tabletop gaming as unrelated activities. Each one helps answer a different human need:

• Food provides nourishment and immediate dignity.
• Knowledge encourages confidence and self-sufficiency.
• Gaming creates connection, friendship, and belonging.

Together, they help us build a community in which people are not simply served—they are welcomed, valued, and invited to become part of something meaningful.

Our motto, Ut Prosim—“That I May Serve,” reflects the heart of everything we do. Whether someone comes to us for assistance, volunteers at a program, attends a gaming event, or supports our mission through a donation, everyone has something valuable to bring to the table.
